Tier 2 Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Training prepares school teams to effectively and efficiently address the needs of students who benefit from supplemental supports in addition to Tier 1.  The Tier 2 team participates in four training days which consist of intense, interactive activities to develop and refine the systems, data, and practices necessary for sustainable Tier 2 implementation.

Objectives

  • Define the six features of secondary/tier 2 interventions and the connection with universal/tier 1
  • Analyze current interventions and articulate how they match features of secondary/tier 2 interventions
  • Create a plan for how the team will develop or refine check-in check-out (CICO), modified CICO, social academic instruction groups (SAIGs), mentoring and brief behavior intervention plans (BIP) that include all six intervention features
  • Create a plan to train, support and gather feedback from stakeholders including students, staff, families
  • Practice systems-level discussions and decision-making that include intervention effectiveness, assessment data, and simple modifications to support for individuals and groups of students

Audience: School-based teams should include administrators, classroom teachers, pupil services staff, the Tier 1 internal coach and external coach.
